Sewing Patterns? We’ve got you covered!

As big sewing fans ourselves here at Little T’s, we know how frustrating it can be to find patterns that are user friendly and accessible. Well, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes for a while now, to bring you a range of fabulous PDF sewing patterns that you will be able to purchase and download direct from the website! Sounds awesome right?

This week we are VERY excited to be able to introduce you to the designer behind the first collection of PDF sewing patterns that are now available to buy direct from our website…

Tanya is the uber talented lady behind Sparkle & Roar. The Sparkle & Roar PDF pattern collection includes a range of children’s sewing patterns, from ages Tiny Baby/Prem all the way up to Age 8. The patterns all include step by step instructions and images to make them easy to follow and to help you produce a professional looking final garment. They’re suitable for those new to sewing and for more experienced sewists.

As part of her introduction to the website, Tanya has written us a short bio about her and Sparkle & Roar. I always love to know more about the person behind the brand and I hope you agree!

I started making clothes for myself when I was an alternative teenager and there weren’t many things available in the shops that I thought were “cool” enough. I never really thought there would be a career in sewing so I just did little bits as a hobby thing. It wasn’t until my youngest was born that I really felt I could make something more out of the hobby with the new availability of knit fabric that wasn’t there in the past. All the patterns I found at the time didn’t quite seem to fit right and had things I found confusing or strange in the designs. So I started drafting my own patterns first for my son and then people wanted to buy the clothes they saw him wearing so I started selling clothing using mostly my own patterns. Then the same thing happened again but this time it was other sewists who wanted to buy the patterns they saw I was using and so here I am now digitising my hand drawn patterns and trying to include loads of variations in each pattern so that they’re multifunctional and worth the money. I like having loads of different options all available in one pattern rather than having to buy another pattern just for a different waistband, pockets or cuff option. It’s a lot of work but I absolutely love seeing people make clothes for their own children using a pattern that I’ve created. That is the whole point of it really, to empower others and give them the tools to make something awesome :D”

I was lucky enough to be part of the group of sewists who tested Sparkle & Roar’s first pattern, the Roarsome Dunagrees, and I can honestly say that they are still a firm favourite of mine when I’m looking to sew something new for my almost 3 year old. It’s a very versatile pattern, with lots of optional extras – my son’s favourite being the awesome Scandi-style pockets, and I love how quickly it sews together.
